If you notice a friend, loved one or yourself increasingly becoming forgetful then it may be wise to talk to your GP about you or your concerns for them as these may be early dementia stages and you may be progressing towards Alzheimer's disease or generally vascular dementia.
The National Health Service (NHS) defines dementia as a syndrome associated with an ongoing decline of brain functioning.
As Dementia affects an individual's mental abilities, affected people find planning and organising difficult. A person with Dementia will therefore often or usually need help from friends and/or relatives as maintaining their independence becomes a problem.
Our Staff are Dementia Care trained and all highly experienced Caregivers are available 24/7 to assist you and/or support your family to manage this situation.
How do I know its Dementia?
You would obviously need to consult your GP before coming to the conclusion that you need dementia care as patients will not be in a position to diagnose which dementia stages they may be at or whether or not it is vascular dementia or even otherwise. It is especially important to act quickly if you notice any or some of the problems listed below as it is strongly adviseable to do so sooner rather than later.
Related problems may include:
Memory Loss
Reduced thinking speed
Lowered mental sharpness and agility
Language
Understanding
Judgement
Mood
Movement
Difficulty carrying out daily tasks

Every Carer deserves a rest from the great work that they do looking after family members or others within their community to ensure that all is well. Sometimes the home health care they provide, extends to immediate family members like children as well. We understand that these carers most often may not find or have, any time off to unwind and refresh themselves. This may arise for a host of reasons and circumstances indeed are varied for each individual case and hence the need for this carers respite service.
Our staff are highly experienced in respite situations and ready to take up the reigns when your Carer is off for any reason. We will cover for them when you need support until a time when things get back to normal
What is the maximum length of time I can book Carers Respite?
Carers respite is usually booked for short to medium time periods which could range anywhere from a few hours to the whole day. Longer respite period bookings can be discussed on a case by case basis with consideration to the home health care needs of the service user that needs our support. In all cases the service users' needs and support requirements come first as we aim to be fair to all parties involved
Live in care is an option that our service users have to ensure their care needs are catered for 24/7 in their own home. This service provides you with your own dedicated carer who will be available to you whenever you need their support. Does the carer have to live in my house?
Yes. At least somewhere on your premises.
Live in care is an option that may be most suited to service users whose care needs imply that they are best cared for in their own home if they have someone around with them 24/7. This translates in the need to have some spare room to house the live in carer within the premises at distances where they can quickly and effectively be of assistance when needed even during the night. So whether the carer lives in your house or in an adjacent quarters the reason they are needed on your premises is to provide you with a home health care experience that both meets your care requirements and makes living in your own home possible, comfortable and enjoyable.
What if I do not get appropriate care from the Live in carer provided?
If for any reason you do not think you are getting the care you need from a particular carer then get in touch with the office and a quick review will be carried out to reassess the carer's suitability and your care needs and thereafter another choice of Live in carer suited to your care needs may be provided where possible.
Returning from hospital most often means that you you are happy to come home to familiar surroundings however the reality may be that you find yourself needing help and/or support to complete daily chores for sometime until you get back to full recovery.
So whether you have had an incident or accident, trauma, plastic or major surgery, child birth or any other procedure that means you need someone around to run some errands for a short period; our experienced and compassionate post hospital care givers are available and happy to support you through this period until you get back on your feet. We will listen and carry out your home health care wishes covering your support needs ranging from domestic household chores like tidying, cleaning and cooking healthy meals through to grocery shopping and that visit to your pharmacy or GP.
For how long a period can I take out post hospital care?
Post Hospital care support is individualised and depends on two factors namely your current health condition and your support requirements. We will meet with you, your family or one responsible for your home health care and discuss a support package that suits you and covers your support needs for a time agreed by you or until you can get on your feet again. This package will then be revised along the way as you gradually get back to full heath.
This kind of support is extended to those who have been officially diagnosed as being in the last days, months or years of their life. You have the right to express your wishes on where you would like to receive care and where you wish to be when the time comes to pass on.
You can receive End of Life care at Home, in a Care Home, Hospice or Hospital depending on your circumstances, needs and preferences.
If you choose to stay in your home then you can contact us to provide you with specialist care and support that ensures you are as comfortable as possible during this final period. We work with your GP who is responsible for your overall care in conjunction with other relevant medical practitioners who may be required to provide you with Palliative care to ensure you are at peace and as comfortable as possible.
Is Palliative care the same as End of Life care?
No!
Generally speaking End of Life care encompasses a broader scope of Care than Palliative care.
Palliative care is that part of End of Life care that is aimed at making the patient as comfortable as possible by managing their pain and other related symptoms. As such Palliative care is not limited to End of Life scenarios only but can be applied earlier on during treatment that is not aimed at End of Life situations in patients.
